BAATPE and MEE signed a plan to improve the competitiveness of Bulgarian producers of garments and textiles next 2009 year.

The purpose of the agreement is to increase the image and competitiveness of the industry, to promote market activity. The common activity might help Bulgarian manufacturers of clothing and textiles, represented by BAATPE, to cope with the competitive market of the European Union and to expand further its market position.

The features activities of the partners described in ten points:

1. Support of all BAATPE members, Bulgarian manufacturers of clothing and textiles, for their participation in international exhibitions, fashion defiles, conferences, business fairs and special events with the aim of developing, promoting and maintaining the competitiveness of the sector.

2. Regular exchange of information between BAATPE and MEE : analysis, studies, research, investment and others, concerning the status and development of the sector.

3. Developing a plan for international exhibitions in 2009 jointly with the ASME - organizing a meeting to narrow the possibilities.

4. Assistance by trade representatives in their respective countries for organizing business visits in partnership with national, multilateral or bilateral donors and business organizations.

5. Involvement of BAATPE experts in preparing statements to the Commission on issues concerning the sector.

6. Assistance from MEE to conduct research and analysis of companies in the sector, to give complete information about the market in textiles and clothing in the country, the development of the industry, purchasing power, macro trends, competition, and the impact of economic crisis.

7. Support the development and promotion of specialized international exhibition BGate, in order to promote international contacts and expand market opportunities for Bulgarian producers and exporters of clothing and textiles.

8. Assistance for promotion of the Bgate expo by Bulgarian embassies and trade offices abroad to attract new exhibitors, chain stores, international media and distributors.

9. Conducting workshops between MEE and BAATPE and organizing special events in the country, in order to resolve the current problems arose, exchange information and discuss trends in the industry.

10.Assistance of MEE in creating a strategy for development of garment and textile industry for the period until 2013.
