Bulgaria generated BGN 18.089 billion gross value added in the first half of 2006, up 6% year on year. The private sector generated 79.5% of the gross value added in the first half of 2006, up by 7.9% compared to the year-ago period. Public sector generated 20.5% of the gross value added, down 1.2% year on year, data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) show. Bulgaria's gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices stood at BGN 11.491 billion in the second quarter of 2006, up 6.6% year on year. The GDP per capita amounted to BGN 1,485. GDP in the first half of 2006 stood at BGN 21.306 billion, up 6.1% year on year.
