Figures from the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Textiles show the country's textile and garments exports were up by 23% in the January to April period, to US$39.38bn.
Textile and garment imports during the same four-month period were up 6% to US$5.42bn.
Following the imposition of quotas on certain textile and garment exports to the EU and US, Chinese producers have increased their trade elsewhere. Exports to the Republic of Korea, Turkey and Mexico surged 47%, 97% and 141% respectively the official figures showed.
